An Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a prestigious Main Contractor will be expected to assist the lead surveyor with the commercial responsibilities on the project from procurement to final account. They will be expected to be able to procure numerous packages and manage subcontractor accounts as well as aide the lead QS with cost reporting and external valuations.

They should be mindful of commercial matters and be influential within the individual team & across departments.

• Be involved and influence design and package reviews
• Prepare subcontractor tender enquiries, analysing, selecting appropriate subcontractors, and finalising and forming of subcontract orders.
• Manage various subcontractors accounts including valuations of works and variations.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors & consultants as required. Engage, represent & promote Durkan in a positive & professional light
• Health & Safety- Act with H&S at the forefront. Be Safe & lead by example
• Involvement with establishing, implement and adhere to Commercial Plans
• Support the commercial team as required. Carry out the following under supervision:
• Prepare tenders – measure, put into packages, analyse
• Prepare variations/valuations
• Prepare Final Accounts
• Site measurement
• Attend site/subcontractor meetings
• Be Commercially Inquisitive- learn
• Develop a greater commercially awareness
• Be involved & understand the project risk/opportunity schedule.
